4 No.22 draft picks who had successful NBA careers
By Luke Duffy
1. Jarrett Allen
Definitely the best 22nd pick this century, and it is interesting that it is another big man in Jarrett Allen who takes the crown. Now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Allen has been an All-Star despite beginning life with the Brooklyn Nets on shakier ground.
Still so young at 25, we haven't even seen the best of Allen yet. Unfortunately for him, we maybe never will as long as he remains in Cleveland. Not only is that Donovan Mitchell's team, but Darius Garland and Evan Mobley are ahead of him in that department as well.
It is the presence of Mobley that is of the biggest concern to Allen's continued growth, with Mobley having the higher ceiling of the two as well. Still, you can't ask for much more out of a 22nd pick than making the All-Star game, being one of your four best players and pushing a high lottery pick in Mobley for minutes while still being so young.
Allen in The Valley would solve so many problems - but with that not a possibility - finding the next Allen through the draft makes sense. Yves Missi is another name that has been mentioned in recent weeks, and he has some parallels to Allen's game. Not as polished offensively, but he could be the sneaky good pickup that Allen was for the Nets back in 2017.
