1. Stay healthy

This is not only what Beal's All-Star case boils down to, but also the chances of the Suns getting close to winning a championship. In his maiden season in The Valley Beal was limited to just 53 games played. Even worse, there was no one injury that kept him out of action, with everything from his back, to his nose and his knee causing him to miss time.

This is a far cry from the player who between 2017-19 didn't miss a single game, and who led the league in minutes each night at 36.9 in 2018-19. If Beal is going to continue to have niggling injuries for the rest of his career, then he's never going to be an All-Star again. It really is as simple as that.

But we saw just enough during that stretch run - and subsequent brief playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves - to believe that a cleaner bill of health could be around the corner. You can say what you like about Beal as a player now versus in his prime with the Washington Wizards, but the speed and bounce is still there.

On the defensive end and when engaged he can make a difference, and there's no doubting the scoring ability is still there. Making this even more basic, and Beal missed a lot of chances to ball out in front of casual fans on national television last year. If he can do that while helping the Suns win and play in 70 games, then he might just make it to the midseason exhibition next time out.
