2. Grayson Allen
Outside of Beal - who might yet be convinced to come off the bench - Grayson Allen is surely going to be the most aggreived player on the Suns roster after this latest move. Last season he led the league in 3-point shooting (46.1 percent), and started all bar one of the 75 regular season games he appeared in.
Allen's role heading into the offseason appeared secure, especially after signing a new deal to come back and even after a poor playoff showing that might have had something to do with an ankle injury he was carrying. As an elite shooter and above average defender, his value to the starting five was clear for all to see.
But let's be real here, Beal isn't going to sign off on coming off the bench. If the Suns decide that Jones can bring the stability and cut down on the turnovers created by the starting group, then Allen is going to be the player who is going to suffer. Beal will take his spot, and he'll be coming off the bench.
Coach Bud has worked with Allen in the past with the Milwaukee Bucks - and although he was a starter back then too - he knows the player better than most. Which is why he's going to think long and hard about starting Jones - with Monte Morris his backup - and have Allen be the elite sixth man everybody believes he can be.
