The Phoenix Suns have had an interesting season. After starting the season with such promise, with a big three featuring Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the amount of injuries had an impact on their early season. However, the team has locked in a playoff spot, narrowly avoiding the Play-In Tournament and are set for a first round match up with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
While Phoenix's season is certainly far from over, it is easy to begin looking towards the offseason and how the team could potentially grow and work towards championship success in 2024-25 and beyond.
There are a number of players that have played for the Phoenix Suns over the years that fans would love to see make a comeback. Whether it is because they made the team better or because they were simply fan favorites, there will always be regret from fans to see certain players depart.
With a number of players hitting free agency or potentially wanting to depart from their respective clubs through trade purposes, the Suns are in a position to make a number of reunions occur.
3. Chris Paul
This one may seem unlikely, due to the fact that Paul was traded to a bottom feeder team in the Washington Wizards in order for the Suns to acquire Bradley Beal.Paul eventually made his way to the Golden State Warriors in pursuit of a championship and to team up with superstar Stephen Curry.
While the team up was exciting and Paul even took a lesser role by coming off the bench, the Warriors were eliminated from playoff contention after their Play-In loss to the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors will likely be looking at how to improve the team or dismantle and do a complete rebuild, leaving Paul potentially on the out.
Steve Kerr and Chris Paul have both showed a desire for Paul to stay in Golden State, but with the rumblings of the Warriors looking at some moves, including the rumored move of Paul to the San Antonio Spurs, another idea could be a CP3 and Phoenix reunion.
Paul was a leader for a young Phoenix team filled with young stars including Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton and Mikal Bridges. He joined the team back in the 2020-21 season after being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder and led them to some post season success, with the team even making the 2021 NBA Finals but falling to the Milwaukee Bucks.
A Paul reunion would be great for both sides, giving the aging star a great chance at winning his first NBA championship. The Suns could also target him to provide themselves with another veteran leader and a legitmate point guard to run the offensive game and allow Booker and Bradley Beal to focus on scoring.
