One of the worst kept secrets in the NBA right now is that the Phoenix Suns are going to trade Kevin Durant this offseason. Just where the 36-year-old is going to go is another question entirely, as he will be entering the final year of his current contract and the word on the street is he is rightly being viewed as a single season rental by other teams.
Depending on who you believe on this situation, Durant might have already literally told us where he will be playing next season. When you really think about it - and given how he engages with everybody on social media - that would be quite a Durant think to do. Leak the answer himself through a friend, so that it is in plain sight weeks before it actually happens.
A team from Los Angeles has entered the chat on Durant.
Of all the murmurs we've heard about a deal going down so far, there have been several franchises that have stood out about the rest. The Houston Rockets for obvious reasons, they've got the young players and draft capital to get a deal done, plus the playoffs showed they need a closer to go deeper next time around.
The Miami Heat aren't known to be very serious about a deal, but the Suns should be if they can get this center back in return. Then there are the New York Knicks, who apparently enquired about Durant at the trade deadline. The Suns might have no interest in Karl-Anthony Towns - but the Knicks do also have Mikal Bridges - and you can see below the fan's feelings on him returning to The Valley.
We’ve made the case for exciting big man Kel’el Ware on the link below, but who do you think is the best/most realistic player the #Suns can get in a Kevin Durant trade this summer?https://t.co/9C6qCLqoe5

According to Matt Moore of Hardwood Paroxysm - which was then also picked up Ashish Mathur of Hoops Wire - none other than the L.A. Clippers have also called the Suns about seeing if they could get some traction on a Durant deal. Pumping the brakes on this one somewhat however, and the Clippers were just mentioned as a confirmed team who called the Suns.
The reality is most everybody has at this point, to get a feel for what it would take to get him to their city. The Clippers of course continue to hunt established stars to try and win, and they certainly got a redemption campaign of sorts - at least during the regular season - from James Harden. With Durant having some say on his future, would he want to team up with Harden again?
4 years ago today, Game 4 vs the Boston Celtics. Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving combined for 104 Points.

Durant: 42 PTS, 5 AST, 4 REB, 2 BLK
Irving: 39 PTS, 6 3PT, 11 REB
Harden: 23 PTS, 18 AST, 5 REB, 3 BLK pic.twitter.com/cvxyCmfcAI
The pair might have unfinished business from their time together with the Brooklyn Nets - or more likely - they both know that they're better off apart. What would interest the Suns a lot more would be if the Clippers were to take Bradley Beal off their hands, although that would mean taking back Paul George in return, which isn't particularly appealing.
Instead it feels like this is yet another team being added to the mix to try and pump up Durant's asking price. The more interested parties - and some of them are going to get real desperate when Giannis Antetokounmpo comes off the board - the greater the bidding war. This one won't happen, but it is a sign that even crazier rumors are around the corner before Durant is actually dealt.
