The Phoenix Suns have begun the season 1-2, and their next game is a great chance to get back to .500 in the early goings of the campaign. The Utah Jazz rounding out a three-game road trip that has so far included losses to both the L.A. Clippers and Denver Nuggets. Despite these defeats - and the worrying lack of defending during both - there are ways the Suns can quickly improve.
Injuries haven't helped their cause either, with Jalen Green yet to appear and center Mark Williams unable to play in back-to-backs already. The Suns did release an injury update ahead of Monday's visit to Utah, and there was some good news in the form of Williams not appearing, meaning he will be active.
Dillon Brooks questionable with right groin soreness.
Unfortunately that is where the good vibes end, as Dillon Brooks is questionable for the contest with right groin soreness. Unfortunate given how hard he has played and how quickly he has settled with the organization, although it may yet be a blessing in disguise. Before delving into why that could be, Green is also confirmed as being out as well.

Jalen Green (right hamstring strain) OUT
Dillon Brooks (right groin soreness) QUESTIONABLE
Mark Williams isn't on the injury report. Missed last game with right knee injury management, #Suns
This is disappointing because Green did make the trip with the team, and the hope had always been that he would be good to go for this one. The fact that he isn't means that we still don't really know when we're going to get to see him out there, a situation made worse by the fact he hadn't missed a game in two full seasons prior to this one.
Back to Brooks, and perhaps this is a chance for Devin Booker to once again take over offensively. He has begun the season taking only 15 shots per game - the lowest since his rookie year - while Brooks is chucking up close to 20. That is not the kind of shot distribution you want if you're head coach Jordan Ott, and perhaps the absence of Brooks can be just what Booker needs.
It would have been even better to see Booker and Green out there without Brooks, if for no other reason than to experiment with different lineups. The Suns can't have all three of those guys plus Grayson Allen out there - which is a problem for him moving forward - while Williams is yet to start a game either but would be the ideal big man for that group.
Maybe Brooks will be good to go by the time the teams take to the court, but this is yet another setback for the Suns in the early goings. For all his faults offensively, Brooks has helped changed the culture in Phoenix immediately. To not have him out there against an opponent the Suns can beat is not ideal, but it is a setback they will have to get over.
