NBA Finals proved Suns could actually do with a dose of Jeremy Sochan in The Valley

Need more of that energy.

If you cast your mind back to the trade deadline, the only player the Phoenix Suns seemingly got close to adding off waivers was Jeremy Sochan.

Cut loose by the San Antonio Spurs, he ultimately chose the bright lights of New York City and the Knicks, and was vindicated in his choice as he just won a ring (and would have either way having started the season in Texas).

Sochan has that "shithousery" that Suns need more of in Phoenix

If you're not familiar with the above term, then we'll leave it to none other than Ben "Benny Blanco" White of Arsenal fame to get you caught up. "Shithousery" is a decidedly British term, and the closest we have in the NBA right now is Dillon Brooks.

A player who gets under the skin of opponents and appears to exist purely to rattle others. The White/Brooks comparison works better because both are players who actually contribute to winning, but Sochan exhibited enough of those same qualities in the NBA Finals to warrant wanting in Phoenix.

In Game 5 he could be seen walking directly into the path of Victor Wembanyama during a timeout, and taking a shoulder to the jaw for his troubles.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown then did the unthinkable with just over eight seconds left in the game, bringing Sochan into the game to stick to Wemby. A tactic that ultimately worked as the Larry O'Brien trophy now lives in New York for at least a year, and Sochan being able to annoyed Wembanyama while both playing and (mostly) sitting on the bench was a tiny part of that success.

He then tried to dap up some Spurs players once the game was over, and we can't decide if that is good sportsmanship or the final level of this term which the Suns need a whole lot more of.

Let's be real here, Devin Booker is too nice in the same way Jalen Brunson appears to be, which is why you need teammates who will take it right to the edge to get a competitive advantage. Sochan isn't likely to be brought back by the Knicks this offseason, and Phoenix could do worse than pick up the phone.

Alongside Brooks and Collin Gillespie they would be a nightmare for opponents to face each night, doing all of the annoying things that distract opponents to then let Booker cook. Putting this trio in head coach Jordan Ott's defensive schemes?

Too hilarious not to consider.
