The Phoenix Suns have been out of postseason contention for weeks now, and in truth they were only involved to make up the numbers anyway.
But to keep the games interesting in The Valley it is better to cheer on somebody so that the games mean more, and former Sun Mikal Bridges is easily the player that fans should be hoping wins a championship.
Victory for Bridges could see him return to Phoenix in future
Should the 30-year-old bringing a championship back to New York with the Knicks, he will be a legend there for life. You would also think that their front office would make changes this offseason, because of how expensive their roster is and the fact they would have finally gotten the job done.
Bridges would make sense as a player to move on from, and although it is unlikely he would be traded to the Suns, it could set in motion a chain of events in which he eventually comes back. Putting right the Kevin Durant trade once and for all.
Even if that appears unlikely (we just can't shake the fact that player and team are meant to join forces again once more before he retires...), there are other clear reasons to want Bridges to win a ring.

He's the only remaining player in the postseason who the Suns and their fans have a clear connection to, and it would come with the added bonus of Landry Shamet also winning a championship.
Yes Knicks fans would be insufferable if they did get over the hump, but they're half a world away in the Eastern Conference so the Suns wouldn't have to hear about it every day.
A victory for Bridges would also likely come over the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have only become more villainous since sweeping the Suns out of the playoffs. Even when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander isn't talking about the Suns... he is actually still talking about the Suns and it is annoying.
Their combination of ridiculous flopping and trying to murder Victor Wembanyama on national television is not endearing themselves to the neutrals, to the point that the Knicks have become a more popular option to win it all. Really think about that for a second.
Bridges is part of the reason why fans have softened on New York. He is likeable, never takes a night off and remains an elite two-way player.
If the Suns aren't going to win it all, then one of their favorite sons bringing a chip home is the next best outcome. It could even lead to a surprise reunion down the road.
