Overreacting to the play of the Phoenix Suns' most promising youngsters at Summer League sure has been fun hasn't it?

Rasheer Fleming has looked like an improved two-way performer, while we're out here claiming Khaman Maluach is all of a sudden putting pressure on the front office off the back of a few double-double showings.

Koa Peat should be aiming for as little G League play as possible

Taking the enthusiasm down to realistic levels with rookie Koa Peat, and we have seen enough from his time in Las Vegas for the 19-year-old to have one clear goal. To spend as little time as he can down in the G League, even though going there from time-to-time will be best for his development.

It's not that the former Arizona standout is too good to be making those trips or that they are not worthwhile. The Suns are going to try and be competitive again after all and head coach Jordan Ott struggled in year one to give the rookies on his roster a fair shake.

Peat looks like he could actually help to win this team some games, already showing shades of Aaron Gordon with how physical he has been inside the paint. With Ryan Dunn looking more and more like a guy on the outside of the depth chart, there is an opportunity for Peat to jump the queue to more minutes.

This would be an excellent development for the franchise as well, with their last two draft picks in Peat and Khaman Maluach showing more promise than many of the youngsters who came before them.

Best of all there is no pressure on Peat to succeed with this goal either. If he does spend more time in the G League than he would like, he need only turn to Maluach to see that this is a great way to develop his skills.

But the Suns have been due a prospect to overachieve early for a while now, with the last player to do this Toumani Camara and that happened with a different organization (a terrible decision makes wins like this one so much sweeter).

Maluach managed just under nine minutes of action in 46 appearances. If Peat can reach the low 60s and appear 12 minutes a game and grab some of the offensive boards that he made a Summer League focus, then it is going to accelerate this re-tooling around Devin Booker and excite the fans.
