You likely weren't aware of this, but there had been some rumors recently that French soccer team Paris Saint Germain were open to giving their current head coach Luis Enrique a lifetime contract.
That's how much he means to that team, and although it is obviously a terrible idea, Phoenix Suns' head coach Jordan Ott is quickly getting talked about in much the same way.
We're joking of course (kind of), but the former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant has been a brilliant addition to The Valley, the perfect head coach to lead this franchise into a brighter future. He is also clearly missed by his former employers as well.
Coach Ott passed significant milestone in win over the Lakers
In the Suns' most recent victory, an impressive 132-108 win over those Los Angeles Lakers, coach Ott managed to beat out previous leading men Frank Vogel and Mike Budenholzer for most wins before Christmas Day.
Coach Ott now sitting on 16 wins, with Vogel having 14 and Budenholzer 15 at this point in their single year tenures. That might not seem like much, but consider how different both the rosters and expectations were.
I keep going back to Jordan Ott’s intro presser when he answered the Michigan State question.

You could tell he has a chip on his shoulder from the start. Been so impressed with him early on. pic.twitter.com/vOTWGvRD3n
The Suns didn't even need our suggestion of playing Khaman Maluach more to get under the skin of Deandre Ayton, as he only managed six minutes in this one. Guess that's why we're here and coach Ott is running the team.
But with most over/unders for Phoenix heading into the season set at around 20 wins, this group looks set to blow past that prediction in the coming weeks.
You can't even make the case that coach Ott has had an easier run of games to build up some victories, and in fact the next four games represent an opportunity to get to that 20 win mark before the turn of the calendar.
The Suns facing the New Orleans Pelicans (twice), Washington Wizards and struggling Cavaliers. To give an indication of the impact coach Ott has had here, the Suns have three more wins than the Pelicans and Wizards combined right now.
Obviously both Vogel and Budenholzer had Kevin Durant to call upon, while Ott is getting career years out of Dillon Brooks, Mark Williams, Grayson Allen (when healthy) and Collin Gillespie.
Devin Booker has gone through some shooting slumps, while Jalen Green has barely been available at all. All of this, and they are still right in the thick of the playoff race.
This bodes so well for Ott's future in Phoenix with this group, and could also mean they are closer to being truly competitive again than anybody realized. What a nice little Christmas win for coach Ott.
