Phoenix Suns fans are dying to see Jalen Green get back on the court for their franchise, but they are going to have to wait a little longer.
The general consensus was that it would be around Christmas Day when he would play for what would only be the third occasion this season. That dream was ended Monday, with news he will be re-evaluated in two-to-three weeks.
Suns don't need Green to make the playoffs
Although it would be fantastic to see the 23-year-old out there playing alongside Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks, the reality is the franchise don't need to rush him back from this hamstring issue.
They have proven by being above average defensively and around the middle of the pack when it comes to scoring that they can hang with virtually any opponent in the league.

They've even got specific players they can use to hurt certain opponents, as the Los Angeles Lakers will hopefully find out on Christmas Eve. Rushing Green back from a hamstring issue is not the solution here.
It is unfortunate that he had appeared in every game for the Houston Rockets, regular season and playoffs, in the two years prior to moving to The Valley, but there is no point getting down about that.
Instead it is better to think that the Suns have done this well to remain in the playoff mix without him, and have real hope that they can be a top 10 offense when he finally does get back out there.
There is no need to even think about moving him right now, his trade value is probably as low as it has ever been, so it is not like the Suns are trying to put him in the shop window.
This was always going to be a campaign of transition after the departure of Kevin Durant, yet the Suns are clearly ahead of schedule. Having Green to come back is the icing on the cake here, not the necessary addition to stop a crisis.
So fans are going to have to wait that bit longer to see an elite level scorer, but it will be worth it. Head coach Jordan Ott has created a defensive identity here, and it will be fascinating to see how quickly Green can buy into that as well.
Until then give him all the time he needs to come back 100 percent, even if that means shutting him down for the rest of the campaign. The Suns are only getting started.
