At the Phoenix Suns' media day on Wednesday, Devin Booker affirmed that he still has unfinished business with the team, saying he knows how much a championship would mean for the fanbase and the city. Booker re-affirmed his commitment to pursuing a title and stated that chasing that goal is his responsibility as a leader and franchise player.
"From being at the bottom and almost getting the job done, I have unfinished business here," Booker said on Wednesday. "I know how much it would mean to this city and this organization. That's my job as a leader. It's my responsibility of being a franchise player. I have to communicate to everybody the importance of basketball in this town, and how seriously we take it."
In an era where star players are constantly jumping between teams, Booker's words serve to only strengthen the idea that he is fully committed to not only staying in Phoenix, but winning a championship in the Suns uniform.
There was obviously a ton of shake up within Phoenix's locker room this off season. There were initially some premonitions that Booker might opt to leave with the rest of the team coming down around him. But he's totally denied all those allegations, and once again re-affirmed his commitment to the Suns.

Booker made Suns fans smile with his media day comments
There's a clear shift in Devin's career happening right now. Entering year number 11, he's very much the grizzled veteran and the standalone leader of this team. No more Kevin Durant, no more Bradley Beal, this is Booker's team and Booker's team only now.
By signaling that he sees the growth of this team as his responsibility, Devin is accepting the duty of bringing this team back into contending status. And the phrase of "unfinished business" carries a lot of weight. It clearly hints at the fact that missing the mark in the past is still hanging over his head, and he wants to make right past shortcomings.
It's certainly reassuring to fans that Mat Ishbia is on board with ensuring Booker remains the franchise cornerstone. It's this type of raw and honest statement from Devin that will undoubtedly served to fire up the Suns' fan base and rile everyone up for the upcoming season.
Maybe Phoenix isn't exactly built to go deep in the playoffs next spring. But it's clear that Devin Booker is unwavering in his desire to bring a championship to this city before the end of his career.
