Are you worried about Devin Booker? The superstar didn’t exactly have a series to remember in the playoffs, while his play in the regular season failed to hit the heights we’ve seen in the past.
Even Bradley Beal seems to think it might be time for Booker to leave The Valley, but it is clear the 29-year-old is not thinking like that right now. Which shouldn’t surprise given he has never given any indication he wants to leave before.
Booker publicly backs head coach Jordan Ott after season’s end
Booker was speaking to the media after being swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he made a point of singling out first year head coach Jordan Ott for some unique praise that the franchise has desperately needed.
"Stability."

The word “stability” being used by Booker to describe coach Ott’s first season in The Valley. That phrase was chosen for a reason, and should relieve any fans who thought their franchise cornerstone would be unhappy with how the season ended.
Kevin Durant was anything but stable during his time in Phoenix, while adding Beal to the mix was a disaster. Jusuf Nurkic didn’t work out, while ironically shipping out Deandre Ayton of all people, plus Chris Paul, is what led to the Suns losing their footing.
Then there were the head coaches, neither of which lasted more than a year after Monty Williams was canned. That’s really what Booker is getting at here, how coach Ott being aligned both with him and the front office will lead to brighter days down the road.
You need only look at the Orlando Magic for an example of this in action, with that young roster having grown over several years with head coach Jamahl Mosley. It hasn’t always been pretty, and as recently as two weeks ago all the talk was about how he needed to be fired as they wobbled in the play-in.
Now they find themselves 3-1 up over the top seeded Detroit Pistons and all of the growing together has stood to the Magic and their coaching staff. Booker sees the vision, and going public with his backing of the head coach is as strong an endorsement as you can get.
More progress will need to happen if the good vibes are to continue into year two, but after a successful season this is as good a post-game interview after being swept as you will get from Booker. Words of positivity about a coach we haven’t heard in a minute.
