The Phoenix Suns might have entered the final day of the regular season locked in to the seventh seed, but there was drama elsewhere.
The Denver Nuggets surprisingly getting the better of the San Antonio Spurs, stealing the third seed in the process.
Former Sun David Roddy massive in helping Nuggets pull out win
Roddy is a name you won't have heard for a minute in The Valley, but he was on the roster when Frank Vogel was the head coach.
In fact he is probably best known for being talked about by Vogel as a potential solution to their point guard woes at the time.
This despite Roddy very much being a forward and operating as such, although we also know now that this was likely a thinly veiled dig by Vogel to the front office for not providing him with a floor general.

In any event he has found himself coming off the bench in Denver, and despite being less fancied to beat the Spurs Roddy finished with 15 points in 33 minutes off the bench.
In doing so he may also have shown that he is capable of being at the back end of a rotation in this league moving forward.
Really he had some nice moments in Phoenix, it was just clear once Kevin Durant left town that the franchise had to go in a different direction. There has been a lot to like about that.
His 13 boards for the Nuggets in the 128-118 victory were also a team high, and jumping up to the third seed likely also means a likely rematch with the Spurs in the second round.
When the alternative was facing the Oklahoma City Thunder, it is clear Roddy has helped the Nuggets massively despite only playing five games for the franchise.
Also worth noting is that another former Suns player suited up for the Nuggets, one that is in many ways linked to Roddy.
Point guard Tyus Jones, who fans in Phoenix could not wait to see the back of by the end despite a strong start to life there, started in that game.
He was the very player that then coach Vogel wanted on his roster, using Roddy as the potential floor general to prove his point.
That theyn ended up helping a Western Conference rival is kind of funny, although when you have Nikola Jokic on your roster it becomes a lot easier to plug these kinds of players into the rotation.
