Amazing way Suns can steal one of the Magic's brightest young players

Got to take advantage.

The Orlando Magic are not in a good spot right now, which is why teams like the Phoenix Suns should be picking up the phone and enquiring about their players while they are vulnerable.

They just fired their head coach in Jamahl Mosley and after a third straight first round exit from the postseason, have a roster that just does not make sense.

Suns can steal Anthony Black from Orlando for next to nothing

The Magic also face a troubling dilemma with their young guard Anthony Black, as he is extension eligible and they are not in a position to pay him what he is likely to want.

He was also one of the few players in their Round 1 series versus the Detroit Pistons who could make a shot from time-to-time, while his playmaking and even defending should intrigue.

Still only 22-years-old, the Magic may be forced to part ways with him because next season alone they are paying Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and Desmond Bane over $154 million.

Not that the Suns are in a much better spot, their trio of Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks all on big bucks themselves.

They also have to decide what to do with Mark Williams, which may be what makes an unlikely move for Black possible in the first place.

They could let Williams walk and then do an extension with Black now or next year (he will have one year remaining on his rookie deal while Williams does not), and by then the franchise may also have moved on from Green.

Even better for Phoenix is the reality that the Magic need as many shooters as they can get to surround Banchero and Wagner ahead of next season.

To give up a 25 point Game 6 lead over the Pistons and score 19 points in a half of basketball is horrific, and their inability to make a shot outside of Banchero in Game 7 cost them the series.

Royce O'Neale can spread the court and hit 3-pointers at an above average clip, while Grayson Allen would be an even better fit.

O'Neale and some seconds (the Magic need draft capital as well) for Black works financially, while it is trickier with Green.

Quite why the Magic would want to add Goga Bitadze to a deal is anybody's guess, although with Moe Wagner back the need for him in Orlando is less than it once was.

Perhaps if a first rounder went into the deal as well, the Suns could get it over the line. You can argue that is a lot to give up for Black, but he has clear upside and Phoenix doesn't have many more moves to make.

Targeting a struggling franchise is the only way they can improve this offseason, and the Magic are in a bad spot. Time for Brian Gregory to make some calls.
