The Phoenix Suns' 2026-27 season will officially begin on Monday, September 28, at their annual media day. In particular, there are three members of the organization we can't wait to hear from. Let's break them down.
Dillon Brooks
The clear favorite, the man is a walking soundbite. Since we last caught up with Brooks, he has hung out in the mountains of China doing Dillon Brooks things. Then came the three-year, $73 million extension, which arrived at the perfect time for the 30-year-old.
This time last year, he christened Collin Gillespie "Villain Jr.", and you just know he will bring the heat the moment a microphone is put in front of him.
There is a reason he is the emotional heartbeat of this team and helped to reset the culture in The Valley. It goes far beyond his two-way skills and desire to get under the skin of every opponent he comes up against. The antics of Brooks will begin at media day, and we can't wait.
Jalen Green
Switching gears completely, everybody will be listening intently to the wording Green uses when speaking to the media during availability. His first season in Phoenix did not go as planned because of a recurring hamstring issue, and calls for him to come off the bench grow louder by the day.
Green will enter training camp having to earn his spot all over again, but the language he uses about his role with this group will be telling. If he says all of the right things about doing whatever it takes to help the Suns win, he may be coming off the bench sooner than expected
If he remains bullish on being Devin Booker's backcourt partner, particularly with the prospect of an extension on the horizon, we could be in for a rocky campaign where the coaching staff isn't brave enough to sit him in favor of a traditional point guard.
Koa Peat
An obvious place to end, we haven't seen much of incoming rookie Koa Peat since he was selected 30th overall by the franchise this summer. He arrives at an interesting time, with the Suns suddenly down starting center Mark Williams and Duop Reath having been invited to training camp.
There is a growing case that small-ball lineups could be used to get the best out of the players available to Head Coach Jordan Ott, and that would be great news for Peat as he sets out to find a role for himself.
It is always nice to hear from a youngster who is just happy to be there and wants to make a strong impression in their first year as a professional. So much will be made of whether the Suns can improve on their 45 wins last season and whether Booker will ever get close to winning a championship in The Valley. Talking to Peat will be a welcome distraction from all of that noise.
