The Timberwolves want to leap into championship contention this season, but massive financial hurdles are ahead. Jaden McDaniels just inked a five-year $131 million rookie extension that keeps him with the franchise until 2029. Minnesota already has $185 million in committed salaries for next season without factoring new contracts for Mike Conley, Jordan McLaughlin, and Anderson.

Will the Timberwolves be willing to pay the luxury tax and be over the second tax apron? If not, the franchise will need to trim their payroll. Even if they trade Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota will want to take on salary to remain in contention. The Wolves cannot play without a point guard, so they must add someone at that position or bring back Conley.

Anderson feels like the odd man out. He is on a $9.2 million expiring contract this season, and Minnesota should look to trade him before the deadline if they have zero interest in re-signing him next summer.

Slo Mo is a versatile player who can handle the ball, make plays, defend multiple positions, and score efficiently. He is a fantastic role player who improves the Phoenix Suns’ depth and lineup options. The Suns may have to offer all five second-round picks to land Kyle Anderson, but he is the versatile 6’9 forward their rotation lacks.
