Suns’ Jusuf Nurkic has great reaction when asked if KD has lost a step
By Justin Lee
The Phoenix Suns have a big three comprised of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, whose ages are 26, 35, and 30. Their best player, Durant, is on the verge of being past his prime, so we think. Usually, when guys get to that age, their game declines.
It’s a worry from some Suns fans, for sure, and it’s really only a worry in the first place because of the previous Achilles injury. However, that was a while ago, and Durant has so obviously shown that it hasn’t stopped him.
Since the injury, he has not averaged fewer than 26 points in a season. Durant is still “him,” as the kids say nowadays. And if you need any further proof that he hasn’t slowed down, even after turning 35 years old just a few weeks ago, the Suns’ newest addition had a great way of explaining that KD’s age is nothing but a number. He isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
“Sh——t,” Nurkic started. “I don’t see one thin, man. I feel like after the injury he had, it’s impressive. If he didn’t have, what, a couple of days ago, the birthday, I wouldn’t have known he was 35. He looks younger than ever.”
The Suns have Durant on contract for three more years, including this upcoming season. That would have him playing in purple and orange through his age 37 seasons. By then, sure, there is a chance he will start playing worse. That’s expected at age 37. We have to remember that not everyone is the freak of nature that LeBron James is. Not everyone has that kind of longevity; in fact, no one has that.
But right now, he is fine. Well, scratch that; he is better than fine. He is the best player on the team and should be one of the favorites to win it all. I mean, listen to Nurkic rave about his new teammate.
