Areas Bradley Beal must improve for Suns to be title contender
By Ermay Duran
The Phoenix Suns’ acquisition of Bradley Beal sent shockwaves through the NBA. From the standpoint of basketball coaching and player development, this move is seen as a bold step toward championship contention.
However, for the Suns to truly become title contenders, there are specific areas in which Beal must improve. The following analysis dives into these aspects, considering both the technical and psychological facets of the game.
The need for improved defense
Beal’s offensive prowess is well-known, but his defense has been a concern in recent years. Once considered a solid defender, Beal has become somewhat of a liability on the defensive end. The Suns’ loss to Denver in the second round highlighted the team’s defensive shortcomings, and Beal’s addition doesn’t necessarily address this issue.
However, with head coach Frank Vogel’s defense-oriented coaching and a better team environment, it’s believed that Beal can recover to at least an average defender. The psychological aspect of playing with a winning team and less offensive load might rejuvenate his defensive efforts. This improvement will be crucial for the Suns to stand tall against offensive powerhouses.
