3 players the Phoenix Suns should avoid in free agency.
2. Danilo Gallinari
After being sent to the Washington Wizards as part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade, it has been reported that Danilo Gallinari will be waived and hit free agency. Gallinari spent the last year on the Boston Celtics’ bench, recovering from a torn ACL. Such a recent injury is reason enough for the Suns to pass on “Gallo”, but he would be a poor fit even if he was healthy.
Gallo’s calling card throughout his career has been his efficiency, but aside from that, he doesn’t provide anything else. His rebounding numbers are poor despite being a 6’10 power forward and he’s not a good defender.
Gallinari has also been a noted playoff dropper throughout his career. His field goal percentage in the playoffs is a woeful 39 percent while his 3-point mark also drops from 38 percent to 34 percent once those lights start to shine brighter.
With numbers that low, combined with being hunted on defense, he becomes unplayable in the postseason. The Suns have their eyes on a championship, so any additions should be made with the assumption that a player can still be effective into the playoffs. Gallinari has not been able to do that in his career.
