Now THIS is a squad.
Clarke is the only obvious hole, while everyone else is either a bona fide superstar or at least superstar-adjacent. I’m imagining an old school triangle offense with all the off-ball movement this team has procured, and maybe even some high-IQ zone defense sets if the guys can buy into it.
My favorite thing about this team is its malleability. Every guard can play off the others, and Dončić can slide between the 1 and 3 spots depending on matchup. SGA can definitely put in some minutes at Small Forward, and grabbing some bench bigs will definitely help insulate this team from injury.
The Suns of the past, present and future can revolutionize rotations in basketball, Murray, Booker and Dončić seamlessly switching with the bench unit to create an endless barrage of scoring and off ball wizardry. With this lineup, no game should ever really be that close, but there is the break-glass-in-case-of-emergency death lineup, which would replace Clarke with SGA and slide Dončić down to the four. It’s small-ball at its finest.
This team is obviously totally ridiculous, and would be the perennial title favorites if everyone stayed together. The luxury tax bill would be bananas, so we’d have to discuss its viability with Ishbia. Nevertheless, its glorious.
