Free Agent No. 2: Draymond Green, Power Forward

We go from a bold free agent option to a borderline insane one, but Draymond Green will indeed be a free agent this summer. Could he consider an unlikely reunion if Durant recruits him passionately to join him in Phoenix? It’s certainly not out of the question.

Green is still one of the best defenders in the league, with the versatility to defend Domantas Sabonis one quarter and De’Aaron Fox the next. He has incredibly long arms, excellent strength and elite anticipation, and his combination of knowledge and instincts make him one of the very best defenders in the history of the NBA. He has lost a step as he has aged, but he’s still one of the very best in the league.

On offense, Green is not much of a shooter or scorer, but just like playing with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, he wouldn’t need to be alongside Durant and Booker. He does handle the ball like a point guard, loves to push the pace in transition and is devastating in the short roll in advantage situations.

A frontcourt pairing of Durant and Green was once absolutely terrifying for the rest of the league, and it could be again. Green would solve so many of their needs, and he might sign for a starting salary low enough for them to retain a player or two. The Golden State Warriors probably aren’t interested in getting Ayton back however, so the Suns would need to find another cap space team for him.
