Suns vs. Clippers prediction and odds for Game 3 (Suns found something on offense)
By Peter Dewey
This series is going to be fun, isn’t it?
The Phoenix Suns evened things with Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, riding a huge game from Devin Booker, and several big scoring runs to knot the series up at one game apiece.
Phoenix closed the first half on a huge run and made multiple runs in the second half to keep the Clippers at bay, covering as 8.5-point favorites in the win.
The team that has won the game this postseason is also a shocking 13-0 against the spread. With that in mind, here’s how I’m betting on Game 3 in Los Angeles:
Suns vs. Clippers odds, spread and total
Suns vs. Clippers prediction and pick
The Suns found something on offense in Game 2, dominating the Clippers’ drop coverage with high screen-and-roll action for Booker, Chris Paul and Kevin Durant.
While it’s unlikely that Torrey Craig (five made 3-pointers in Game 2) shoots as well in Game 3, the Suns’ best players all were able to get whatever they wanted in Game 2.
Tyronn Lue is going to have to make an adjustment, but the issue is Los Angeles doesn’t have the built-in scoring that the Suns possess.
Phoenix just has way more top-line options scoring the ball, and if Durant and Booker both have it going, it makes it impossible for the Clippers to throw a double team, like they tried at times with Durant in Game 2.
Los Angeles pulled off a huge upset in Game 1, but even though it dominated the offensive glass in Game 2, the team came up well short.
Russell Westbrook was terrific, but the rest of the team’s options around Leonard didn’t step up enough for the team to win.
I’ll roll with the Suns as slight favorites on the road to go up in the series.
