Reason #3: Signing Carmelo Anthony means no other team can sign him!

The Suns have a great opportunity to sign the best remaining free agent away from other title contenders. Anthony will be in high demand as the season progresses and teams vying for an NBA championship are going to want an extra three-point shooter to come off their bench come playoff time.

Right now, the Lakers could be begging Anthony to come back to the team. Considering they are the NBA’s worst offense, they desperately need him back. I think they should bring him back immediately.

Lakers superstar forward LeBron James may eventually agree with me. Anthony said James only needed four words to convince him to sign with the Lakers before last season.

"‘Yo, I need you.’ Say less. You ain’t gotta say nothing. I already know what time it is when you hit me direct. He was like ‘The time is now.’”"

James and the Lakers are not the only logical suitor for Anthony’s services – the Dallas Mavericks love to shoot threes and perhaps head coach Jason Kidd can convince his former Team USA teammate to come to Dallas.

The Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks could use another shooter off their bench. Anthony was born in Brooklyn and maybe a hometown reunion could be in the cards. He could also return to the New York Knicks, although they do not appear to be title contenders this season.

The Suns have to begin thinking with the end in mind. The worst possible result would be if Anthony went to another contender and helped knock the Suns out of the playoffs.
