Every player ranked from Phoenix Suns’ preseason loss to the Adelaide 36ers

9. Ish Wainright

Didn’t find minutes till late in the third quarter, which probably should change as the preseason progresses. Knocked down a corner triple early, but failed to have much impact thereon. He’s obviously a downgrade from Jae Crowder but still presents as a worthy like-for-like replacement who should earn minutes.

8. Landry Shamet

Just six points in a little under 23 minutes, shooting just 2-for-7 from the floor and 1-for-4 from three-point range. Shamet was active enough defensively, his three steals bumping up his ranking in an otherwise disappointing display. There’s upside there as a secondary ball-handler and playmaker, but his -19 plus-minus was an indicator of his underwhelming value in the game.

7. Torrey Craig

A very up-and-down game from the 31-year-old wing. He should be there primarily for defensive purposes, but failed to have any major impact on that end. This included a couple of occasions where he was beaten off the dribble one-on-one, a poor sign given quality of the opponent.

His offensive role should be predicated on catch-and-shoot threes and slashing, yet he often found himself in position where he had to make plays. His shot selection was a slight issue; he had times going towards the rim where he should have gone up aggressively but instead chose to pass, then occasions where he took tough shots that aren’t a staple of his game. Finished with ten points, six rebounds and two steals on 4-for-10 shooting and 1-for-4 from three.

6. Jock Landale

Plenty of opportunity for the Australian, playing just over 22 minutes in his Suns debut. Had his moments finishing around the rim, although the shooting prowess wasn’t there as he missed all four of his three-point attempts. Was active on the offensive boards and showed enough to suggest there’s something to work with.
