The Phoenix Suns’ interest in Bojan Bogdanovic is gaining traction, with the two linked again in the wake of Donovan Mitchell’s trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Just days ago it was reported that the Suns had reached out to the Jazz regarding Bogdanovic, according to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports.
The Phoenix Suns continue to be connected to Utah Jazz wing Bojan Bogdanovic, although they may face competition to acquire the 33-year-old Croatian.
Joined by ESPN insider Bobby Marks on his podcast The Lowe Post, Zach Lowe listed Phoenix as one of three ‘obvious’ landing spots for the versatile scorer.
"“Phoenix is interesting because…I just think they need a little bit of a jolt, in terms of, their formula is what it is, it’s super successful. I think they need a little bit more jolt on offense, another super high-volume three-point shooter, another guy who can do some stuff outside of their two guards who do everything.”"
He also identified the Miami Heat and New Orleans Pelicans as other obvious destinations. The Heat could do with a replacement for PJ Tucker who left for Philadelphia in free agency, while the Pelicans may look to bolster their roster into genuine championship contention.
Marks believes Bogdanovic will be in high demand for contenders around the league, even if it’s just a rental given his $19.3 million expiring contract. He also thinks Utah will be after a lottery protected first-round pick, comparing his value to that of Caris LeVert who was traded to the Cavaliers in February.
The Suns may have an extra advantage in the Bogdanovic sweepstakes, with he and Suns big man Dario Saric currently playing together for their national team at Eurobasket.
As Lowe recognizes, the Suns need to make a roster upgrade, with Bogdanovic presenting as the best possible option should they want to make a deal prior to training camp.
