Phoenix Suns Trade Target Who Would Start in 2022-23: Bojan Bogdanovic
What is going on in Utah? That seems to be the other theme of this summer. But even after Brian Windhorst broke things down for us a few weeks ago and the Rudy Gobert trade happened, we still have no idea what this team could look like in October.
Donovan Mitchell remains on the trade block, and if he ends up elsewhere it would make sense for the team to chop up the rest of its roster. Doing so would put veteran forward Bojan Bogdanovic on the block.
However, once you get past the Suns needing to upgrade at power forward and the Jazz potentially making one available, things grow more complicated.
The Jazz will likely want Johnson as a guy to shape their rebuild around rather than Crowder, then with a few more glue guys (Craig, Shamet, and possibly Crowder). But Johnson’s production already mirrors Bogdanovic’s, at least to a certain degree. Last year, Johnson shot better from both the field and downtown. Bogdanovic averaged the most points though, and both players shined as stout defensive stoppers as well.
Trading for Bogdanovic resembles a true “win now” move for the Suns, as they get a more experienced forward with only this coming year left on his contract. It’s risky, but does push the team closer to an immediate title.
