Some NBA trade ideas just make too much sense. It appears this has been the case in another Phoenix Suns suggestion, with a proposed deal including shooting-guard Landry Shamet.

Bleacher Report has proposed a trade idea for the Phoenix Suns, one that readers may have seen sometime over the past 10 days.

Last week we evaluated Shamet’s value at the Suns – that his shooting abilities weren’t overly prioritized in the Phoenix system and that he may be better used in a trade situation.

The following day we outlined what this may look like, proposing three trade ideas the Suns could look to if they wished to move on from the 25-year-old. One of these included the possible addition of Terrence Ross, stating “their equivalent contracts mean Shamet and Ross could practically be traded for one another in a straight player-for-player move”.

Now, in an article identifying a trade for every team in the league, Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley has suggested the exact same deal, except with an added second-round pick from the Suns side.

"If Ross can get his shooting back on track—moving from Orlando’s offense to Phoenix’s would be like upgrading from a lemon to a luxury ride—he could replace Shamet’s production without being attached to any future costs."

Would the Suns add a pick to get the deal done? Honestly, there’s still question marks on whether they’d do the trade in a straight player-for-player move anyway. Would Ross be a worthy enough upgrade to make it beneficial? Would his scoring punch outweigh the likely lacklustre defense in a playoff scenario?

As detailed in the article last week, Phoenix’s ideal framework would see Shamet aggregated with other salaries to acquire a player in the $15-25 million range.
