Members of the Phoenix Suns’ bubble team that are no longer in the NBA

Elie Okobo

After being waived by the Suns, the Frenchman spent some time with the Long Island Nets before returning to his home country to play with ASVEL in the LNB Pro A. The 24-year-old won Finals MVP as he guided his team to the 2022 NBA championship, but has since sensationally signed with the team he beat in the Finals, AS Monaco.

Jalen Lecque

Lecque was also involved in the Paul deal but was abruptly moved on to the Indiana Pacers shortly after. He played just four games with the franchise before being waived, having now most recently been a part of the Dallas Mavericks 2022 Summer League squad.

Cheick Diallo

After 47 games in 2019-20, Diallo left the Suns with the franchise unwilling to pick up his contract for the following season. He signed with Fuenlabrada in Spain before returning to the United States last season where he played for the Motor City Cruise in the NBA G-League. He was signed to a ten-day hardship exemption contract by the Detroit Pistons but never saw playing time. He’s now joined Cangrejeros de Santurce in Puerto Rico for next season.

Tariq Owens (two-way contract)

Owens played a total of three games with the Suns and hasn’t been able to procure another taste at NBA level since. He spent time with the Long Island Nets and has most recently signed with Pallacanestro Varese of the LBA in Italy.

Aron Baynes

After an incredibly successful year with the Suns, Baynes signed with the Toronto Raptors but had an underwhelming 2020-21 season. He then had a major, life threatening spinal cord injury sustained at the Olympic Games last year. He missed all of last season but will make an inspirational return to the court having signed a new contract with the Brisbane Bullets in his home country’s NBL.
