Fish tanks to the left, stacks of old magazines to the right, NBA fans are in something of a “waiting room” right now with the NBA free agency powder keg having already detonated and training camp still weeks away. Even with Kevin Durant rumours to keep them occupied, the Phoenix Suns are sitting around just like every other NBA team, holding out for the upcoming season to begin.

But even though this inevitable downtime period might feel like a drag, all basketball fans experienced another stalemate which dwarfs this current one only a few years ago. Of course, I’m referring to when the NBA went on its first hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With no basketball to digest, starving fans did what they had to; they jumped in a time machine and got their hoops fix from the past via The Last Dance.

While everyone sat at home through the bulk of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Netflix documentary captivated the world, telling the story behind Michael Jordan’s run with the Chicago Bulls. The project even featured Phoenix’s own Charles Barkley who famously rivaled Jordan through much of his legendary career.

Although the Suns played as the villains in that story, there are plenty of others where those roles are reversed. There’s time to kill right now, so why not take a trip down memory lane?

Hit the play button that classic “what if I told you” sound bite, dust of your Phoenix Suns history books, and start rolling film, because these three stories deserve to be made into their own world-encapsulating documentary.
