The Phoenix Suns could trade cash and a future draft capital for a pick

These deals rarely bring back anything more than a late round pick as well, but earlier today, the Los Angeles Lakers sent cash and a future pick to the Orlando Magic for pick No. 35. If they find another team really looking to sell a pick, the Suns could land a similar offer.

With the Suns still being in a “win now” mode, they likely only make this trade to draft an NBA ready prospect. It makes little sense for them now to give up any future assets for someone to bring along as a project that might not fit the team’s agenda.

James Jones recently spoke on his preference to draft these “win now” players, so a deal like this probably has the highest probability of occurring if the Suns indeed want to move into the draft.

Although taken much higher up than pick No. 35, the Suns selected Cameron Johnson for being an NBA ready talent. It’s safe to say that decision turned out well, so watch for the Suns to possibly catch lightning in a bottle for a second time in three years.
