Phoenix Suns Game 2 Takeaway: Team Defense Reigns Supreme

As mentioned earlier, the Suns allowed just 49 second-half points during Game 2, rendering Dallas to a collectively cold 35.9 field goal percentage. They also forced eight turnovers as they were swarming all across the hardwood.

Communication was on point, rotations were crisp and on time, and the Suns closed possessions with defensive rebounds at a high frequency in doing this. The extra effort plays were consistently executed—which is something always required in a winning recipe.

But it was Phoenix’s swarming movement, spearheaded by their top players, that sparked the second half run that allowed them to take over the entire game’s flow

It resembled one of their best defensive showings of the entire season when it comes to collective engagement. The fact that they were able to do all this, even while in foul trouble, remains impressive as well.

Thanks to that, the Suns now go on the road to Dallas, boasting a 2-0 series lead, and looking to complete a sweep by the end of the weekend.
