Phoenix Suns vs Dallas Mavericks – Jan. 20th, 2022
Switching over to January, the Suns flew south for a date with a red hot Dallas Mavericks team that had won nine of their last ten games, including one vs Golden State.
The Mavs also boasted the league’s top defense at that time, presenting Phoenix’s uber-efficient offense with arguably its toughest challenge yet. Securing a win over them would require some extra will power as well, with Dallas coming into the contest 6-0 on their home floor in the new year.
This clash of the titans stayed close through the first half, but a quick steal and buzzer-beating shot from Luka Doncic put the Mavericks up by eight at the break. Despite a burst from Phoenix in the third, Dallas maintained that eight point advantage through to the final period
But in the fourth, the Suns put their clutch instincts on full display, with the team’s elite half court offense and stifling defense both coming alive. Phoenix ended the contest on an incredible 17-6 run during the game’s final five minutes to complete the comeback.
CP3 scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth to ice the game. Booker tallied 29 points and dropped six dimes. The Phoenix defense also forced Dallas into a whopping six turnovers in the fourth, largely thanks to Bridges, who finished the contest with four steals.
