The Phoenix Suns might be able to get Torrey Craig as a buyout

The Pacers already played their best hand in trading away Sabonis, Holiday, and Lamb. By sending their star alongside two glue guys packing, it feels unlikely that they will be able to strike a similar deal again this week—making Torrey Craig a potential buyout candidate rather than anything else.

Although Myles Turner still remains on the Pacers and was once believed to be a moveable piece beside a few more players like Craig, he is apparently now “thrilled” at the idea of staying with the team. Without him as their lone remaining star to attach in a deal, it consequentially feels highly unlikely for Craig to become traded.

So with Indiana likely done at the deadline, but still wanting to rebuild by playing their young talent, all signs point to a buyout for Craig.

Given how well Craig meshed with Phoenix last year and how they might offer him yet another chance to pursue a title, one would expect the Suns to be the leading candidate to sign him should he indeed work his way into a buyout.

Craig operated as a sparkplug, small ball five last year for Phoenix, averaging a solid 7.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He also shot 40.5 percent from deep during the playoffs. He would make for an ideal mid-season addition yet again, especially if Thaddeus Young fails to reach a buyout agreement.
