Suns vs Nets Prediction
You’ve heard of a trojan horse, right? The big, beautiful, boisterous horse that’s actually a trap and destroys everything you once held dear? An overwhelming favorite to win the NBA championship coming into the season, the Nets are a league-worst 19-29-1 against the spread (ATS).
Tonight, the best team in basketball gets to take on a sputtering Brooklyn team reeling from the loss of Kevin Durant and the uncertainty around everyone else. The Suns have simply been marvelous. Over the last 15 games, Phoenix has the best offensive rating in the league and a top-five defensive rating.
The reigning Western Conference Player of the Week, Chris Paul is generating some MVP buzz with his steady play and incredible clutch performances. During the Suns’ winning streak, Paul is averaging 17.9 points, 11.7 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 55% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc. With Devin Booker averaging over 30 points a game in that same time frame, the Suns just may have the best backcourt in basketball.
All season, the Nets have been overrated because of their name recognition. Phoenix is on a different universe than Brooklyn right now, and frankly this line should be much higher. James Harden is questionable to play, but if he does play, I like the Suns even more. Chris Paul will want to punish his former teammate and Brooklyn just isn’t good enough to keep up.
Give me the Suns -6 (-110) and I’d feel comfortable playing it up to -10. Don’t get fooled by a trojan horse, just side with the best team in the world instead.
