Right now, the Phoenix Suns are currently first in the West with a fantastic record of 34-9. However, the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies are nipping at their heels. They will need to do more than just continue to play hard to get back to the Finals and take home the title with the West being a rough playoff road for any team.

With the Suns sitting in first place as the trade deadline looms, we will look at a few things they can do to continue their winning ways. The Suns should also be prepared for another COVID outbreak and injury bug. Now would be the time to start counting minutes on players, especially the older ones like Chris Paul, or the big men so they are ready to run through the playoffs and take the Valley to its ultimate goal.

Should the Los Angeles Lakers get healthy and pull themselves together, combined with a rejuvenated Golden State team, the Suns may need to shine bright during the trade deadline.

The Suns have a decent roster right now from top-to-bottom, but that won’t be enough when you look at the West and see several other teams throwing out three, four, or even five All-Stars.

Going after a difference maker will be key during the trade deadline to help them go the distance. Guard and forward depth are both needs, but they need a player who won’t just be a depth piece—they need a player who can be a lightning rod now and then.
