Phoenix Suns Key to “No Loss” November: Commitment and Communication on Defense
Phoenix’s defense on Tuesday night epitomizes their growth as a team this season.
The Suns became the first group to hold the league’s top offense to under 100 points this season. Mikal Bridges showed what makes him an All-Defensive team lock by guarding Steph Curry as well as anyone, while disrupting passing lanes like a mad man.
However, a strong team effort coming alongside Bridges’s contributions was what got it done the other night. Deandre Ayton looked like the menacing defender he was in the 2021 playoffs, swatting multiple shots and constantly applying pressure inside.
Prior to his injury, Devin Booker’s defensive improvement helped the team out as well, and Chris Paul surprisingly turned it back a few years with his own offerings, now ranking fourth in steals per game.
The Suns also rank second in isolation defense and transition defense. They terrorize their opponents all around the floor, making it impossible for them to breath.
