The Phoenix Suns are Better than the Los Angeles Lakers Right Now

While the Suns go off to work everyday, the Lakers look like little kids sitting back at home, making gigantic messes in the kitchen. LeBron James almost got bulldozed by Isaiah Steward following a dirty play last night, and the team almost lost to the lowly Detroit Pistons soon after.

As it stands now, the Lakers own a shaky 9-9 record, despite most experts picking them to emerge from the West this year. By no means can one count Los Angeles yet, but their start does feel discouraging, while the Suns look better than ever.

Unlike any other team mentioned beforehand, Phoenix actually played the Lakers earlier this year, beating them on their own floor 115-105. Los Angeles also ended up fighting that night too, but that time with each other, as Dwight Howard and Anthony Davis got into it as while the Suns poured it on.

But even aside from this head-on matchup, stats reflect Phoenix’s superiority over LA to an even greater extent. The Suns currently score more points per game, and shoot more efficiency from the field, 3-point territory, and the free throw line.

Los Angeles also turns the ball over 3.2 more times per game than the Suns, and lose out on the rebounding battle. The strongest difference arises at the defensive end though, where the Lakers allow a whopping 9.0 more points per game to their opponents than the Suns.

Both the eye test and the stats tell you that the Suns stand better positioned to win it all right now. Los Angeles still wields enough talent to turn it around, but right now, they look like hot garbage compared to their inter divisional rivals.
