Phoenix Suns can bench Devin Booker at shooting guard for Frank Kaminsky

Just kidding. Although watching Kaminsky pull up along the wing multiple times a game might be something fun to do on NBA 2K22, running Kaminsky as the starting power forward represents his final option keeping him in the fold even after Ayton returns.

This setup fully submits Jae Crowder to a bench role, making it a massive and sudden change for the Suns, and consequently the least likely one to come into fruition.

However, history shows that this idea might not be as crazy as it seems. Last year, the Suns experimented with Kaminsky starting at the four and with Crowder coming off the bench, and it actually worked.

Between February and March, the Suns started Kaminsky over Crowder for 13 games, winning all but two of them. During this “experiment” Phoenix also went on a six-game winning streak, which included victories over the Philadelphia 76ers and even the Milwaukee Bucks.

With results like that, the Suns cannot discount this strategy without second though.

Crowder can still strongly influence a game off the bench as well. With his 3-point shooting capabilities, he can still turn a game on its side within a matter of minutes. Also as a well-renowned “team first” guy, he likely handles this transition better than any other starter right now.
