Phoenix Suns: 3 Free Agents Who Would be Better Fits than Elfrid Payton
By Dylan Young
Phoenix Suns Missed Free Agent Signings: Kelley Oubre Jr.
This is a personal favorite, as I would have loved to see Kelly Oubre Jr. and the Suns reunite.
Oubre Jr.’s length and athleticism separates him from the other two free agents formerly mentioned. The Suns already possess great length and athleticism with Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, and JaVale McGee. Oubre Jr. only adds to this, making their team more more treacherous at the defensive end.
Although Bridges and Johnson provide the length and athleticism needed at the wing position, having Oubre Jr. a part of that group is entertaining to think about. Another weapon able to score at any time beside Devin Booker and Paul just makes the Suns an even scarier sight than they already are.
Oubre Jr. also owns explosive capabilities unlike Payton, often making highlight-reel plays at any moment. But still, after averaging nearly 18 points per contest during his two seasons with the Suns, Oubre Jr. would have demanded a starting role, which makes this free agency wish a bit of a reach.
