Phoenix Suns Centers

Down low for the Suns sits a rising star, a raw prospect, and a journeyman. That blend between experience and potential positions Phoenix well to wreak havoc around the rim during the 2021-22 campaign.

Rotation:

  1. Deandre Ayton
  2. JaVale McGee
  3. Jalen Smith

Nobody proved more to the NBA community during the postseason last year than Ayton. He averaged 15.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game. Hopefully he and the Suns figure out an extension sooner rather than later, because he looks ready to compete for multiple All-Star bids down the line, including one during this coming season.

Based off preseason action, McGee already looks well integrated with this Suns team. His incredible size and bounce make him an ideal fit within Phoenix’s pick-and-roll offense to flush home exciting lobs. Just as another strong presence underneath the basket, he provides much needed relief behind Ayton with Dario Saric out for the season.

Without a doubt, Smith represents the most curious player on this Suns team. Taken with the 10th overall pick a year ago, he carries great upside as a floor spacing big. But regardless, he suited up for only 27 games last year. This season, he needs to focus on earning Monty Williams’s trust above all else.
