Despite putting up the Western Conference’s second best record, the public still overlooked the Phoenix Suns last year, with oddsmakers even favoring the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers over them during the postseason’s first round. Ridiculous claims from ranging from “they’re too young” or “Chris Paul will choke” unfortunately allowed everyone to excuse what eventually went down as Phoenix’s fifth most winningest season to date.

But as we all know, Phoenix clapped back with a dominant postseason run that caused all those naysayers to eat their own words. They handled the defending champion Lakers, blanked MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets with a sweep, and dismantled the Los Angeles Clippers to punch their tickets to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993.

Put simply, the Suns stand as no strangers to the basketball community’s disregard for their achievements. Phoenix is the equally powerful, but under appreciated dark horse, quiet storm, or “middle child” of the NBA.

As individuals, Suns players know this all too well. We saw it come to light even with Devin Booker quite recently, as the league held out on granting him All-Star considerations until the very last moment during his last two seasons.

Booker left the world with no choice but to begin recognizing him as superstar with his recent postseason run though, where he averaged 27.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. But for a few of his teammates, they continue to go untouched by the limelight they undoubtedly deserve.

Under no apparent order, these three players for the Suns come together as the most underrated components to their next championship contending squad.
