Phoenix Suns 2022 Free Agent Targets: Bruce Brown
Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks absolutely fleeced the Detroit Pistons last year when he traded a player now out of the league and a measly second-rounder for Bruce Brown.
Even across Brooklyn’s stacked roster, Brown started 37 contests last year. He often played as his team’s best defender, possessing enough strength and bounce to play down low, but also the fast hands and lateral quickness needed to bother ball handlers. Even starting at power forward and shooting guard double digit times last season, he truly fills out “positionless” player mold.
With Phoenix’s current starting five locked up for a few more years, they will likely only be on the hunt for those always versatile “glue guys” during the 2022 offseason. Considering his skillset, Brown represents this to role to its bone.
This offseason Brown signed a one year, veteran’s minimum deal, set to make him a free agent next summer. With the Nets also set to begin their 2021-22 campaign at full strength with easily the game’s most talented roster, Brown likely sees the floor far less next year, causing his stock to remain low.
This pushed the Suns into prime position to sign him under another veteran’s minimum agreement and avoid blowing their salary totally through the roof.
