Phoenix Suns Starting Five for the 2021-22 Season

No surprise here. With all their starting players from last year once more set to don the purple and orange, the Suns open their season with the exact same five starters from the 2020-21 campaign.

Phoenix Suns Starting Lineup:

  • PG: Chris Paul
  • SG: Devin Booker
  • SF: Mikal Bridges
  • PF: Jae Crowder
  • C: Deandre Ayton

With this lineup again copied over from last year, the Suns likely stick with a similar offensive game plan as well—heavily featuring both Paul and Booker on pick-and-roll sets. Often leading to good looks for either guard or an isolation chance down low for Ayton following his screen, this method operated exceptionally well before, giving no reason for the Suns to turn away from it at this point.

At the floor’s other end, the Suns played clean, but still with the proper aggression largely thanks to the vocal leadership provided by veterans Paul and Crowder. With each guy aboard for the 2021-22 season, expect the defense mounted by this starting group to become top tier once again.

Ultimately though, you don’t mess with success, so this coming year’s starters warrant very few changes. If anything, watch for the team to try and feed Deandre Ayton a bit more, who really seemed to find his confidence during the postseason—which the Suns might want to use to their advantage.
