Phoenix Suns Lingering Free Agents to Sign: J.J. Redick
A sweet jump-shooting stroke almost never dies out, and few possess a better one than J.J. Redick at this point, who owns a 41.5 career 3-point percentage.
Last playing for the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans, Redick averaged a modest 7.4 points per game while sinking 1.5 triples each contest. At age 37 though, Redick must want a solid chance at winning an NBA title before calling it quits, which the Suns can provide more adequately than most.
But with their guard core again already well established, and possibly even upgraded with Bradley, Redick would see the floor only during “small ball” sequences, focused on floor spacing above all else.
With Deandre Ayton on tap though, the Suns might not put this strategy into practice very often, but when they do, it can act as a quick-hitting and dynamic attack—certain to shell shock their opponents. It simply adds an extra layer to the team’s offense, which feels like a real bargain for yet another player likely to barely count against the cap.
As an honorable mention, the Suns might want to give newly released wing player Justice Winslow another look too. As a lottery pick only six years ago, Winslow could enter as a new project for Head Coach Monty Williams and Chris Paul to mentor/reviatalize, while also adding a versatile piece who can fill in almost anywhere due to his stature and athleticism.
