Phoenix Suns Stat #1: Milwaukee’s Offensive Rebounding

Thanks to the all-world brilliance of Giannis Antetokounmpo and his overall size advantage, the Bucks have systematically dominated the Suns on the offensive glass. In the last three games (all Milwaukee victories), the Bucks snagged a combined 41 offensive boards compared to just 19 for Phoenix. This put back dunk by Giannis perfect summarizes Milwaukee’s assertiveness on the glass.

Milwaukee will win the rebounding battle due to their size advantage. But something that can never happen is Phoenix’s guards getting regularly getting beat off the dribble, and forcing Deandre Ayton to rotate away from Giannis to contest a shot. With nobody else to box out the Greek Freak, Milwaukee will continue to get countless offensive rebounds and subsequent put-backs.

The Suns must accept being outmuscled in the paint when necessary. However, they cannot ever accept getting beat off the dribble as many times as it happened in Game 5.

Keep a close eye on how often the Bucks get the ball in the paint over the course of the game as well. If the Suns can force Milwaukee to shoot over them, they will hold their own on the boards just enough to stay competitive defensively.
