Phoenix Suns Key #5: Getting a relatively healthy CP3 back
Four days ago, it was announced that Paul had tested positive for COVID-19 and was to enter league health and safety protocols. This was absolutely devastating for the Suns, as not only has CP3 been an all-star caliber player for them, but he has also been one of the biggest leaders in the locker room.
Now it is confirmed that CP3 will miss Game 1, but there is no update for the games after that. All news regarding the subject has been very vague so far, likely for intentional reasons.
Returning after COVD-19 though can lead to the Suns possibly getting a compromised CP3 (as seen as in some other players’ cases), which is far from ideal. This makes not only getting Paul back, but back in a fully-ready manner, incredibly important.
We trust in Payne’s ability to hold down the fort, but we still need Paul if we want to make a real run at an NBA title. It will all come down to Paul himself, and the training staff to dictate when the best time for him to return to the court is. Let’s just hope they get it right.
