Suns Podcast: Devin Booker’s Game 6 and Chris Paul contract rumors
In Episode 34 of the Valley of the Suns Podcast, we simply have to talk about Devin Booker’s Game 6 masterpiece, as well as Chris Paul contract rumors.
Welcome, Valley Boyz and Girlz, to a celebratory episode of the Valley of the Suns Podcast!
In Episode 34, host Gerald Bourguet can’t help but gush over the Phoenix Suns’ big closeout win over the Los Angeles Lakers, fueled by Devin Booker’s masterful 47-point, 11-rebound performance in Game 6 of his first-ever playoff series.
While the Lakers bottled him up in Games 2-4 of their first-round matchup, Booker responded with back-to-back masterpieces to push the Suns past the defending champs and into the second round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs, where the Denver Nuggets now await.
Booker’s incredible Game 6 is obviously the highlight of the show, but with a report emerging that Chris Paul will opt out of the final year of his contract with the Suns and seek a deal in the three-year, $100 million range, that begs the question: What does this mean for Phoenix, and should general manager James Jones be willing to oblige?
Paul is 36 years old, but he’s been an instrumental part of the Suns’ rise to title contender status this year, and with the exception that shoulder stinger he suffered in Game 1, he’s been healthy all season. It’s a tricky question, but Bourguet arrives on a clear-cut answer to this potential question that won’t come up for a few more months.
Finally, the episode takes a brief look at the upcoming matchup with the Nuggets and what to expect.
