In Episode 16 of the Valley of the Suns Podcast, some concerns over Deandre Ayton and the starting five need to be addressed before discussing the delightful “Letterkenny.”

Welcome, Valley Boyz and Girlz, to another episode of the Valley of the Suns Podcast!

In Episode 16, host Gerald Bourguet addresses his two biggest concerns for the Phoenix Suns looking ahead to the playoffs: Deandre Ayton’s inconsistent play and this team’s continued search for the right starting lineup.

On the Ayton front, we already covered the big fella’s dwindling fourth-quarter minutes in our last episode of the pod, but his some of his recent — and season-long — struggles are worth covering in more detail. For all his defensive improvements, his wavering effort and focus could become a major problem come playoff time.

On a related note, so could the Suns’ inability to find the right starting five. Conventional wisdom says Jae Crowder should be starting, but the advanced stats indicate the Frank Kaminsky lineups have performed better. The problem is Kaminsky isn’t playing starter’s minutes, nor should the Suns want him to do so in the postseason. So what are the potential solutions for head coach Monty Williams?

These aren’t major concerns for a team with the league’s third-best record and point differential, but if the Suns want to make noise in the playoffs, these issues are worth keeping an eye on.

Finally, the show takes a look at Jevon Carter potentially cracking the rotation again, as well as Hulu’s delightful comedy Letterkenny for the latest “G-Rated” segment.
