In Episode 4 of the Valley of the Suns Podcast, guest Anthony Reda joins to discuss his fair-weather Phoenix Suns fandom and Pixar’s newest movie, “Soul.”
Welcome back, Valley Boyz and Girls, for another episode of the Valley of the Suns Podcast!
In Episode 4, host Gerald Bourguet welcomes another special guest to the show in Anthony Reda, an Emmy-winning sports producer and fellow lover of story themes, to discuss his fair-weather Phoenix Suns fandom and tackle the latest Disney/Pixar movie, Soul.
Growing up in Mesa, Arizona, Reda is familiar with Phoenix’s illustrious basketball history, from the days of Charles Barkley and Kevin Johnson to Steve Nash and Amar’e Stoudemire. But while the team’s recent struggles have been hard to ignore, now that the Suns are on the rise again with Chris Paul and Devin Booker, is it time to hop back on the bandwagon?
In addition to fair-weather fandom, Bourguet and Reda also discuss Pixar’s most adult-aimed movie yet, Soul, as well as its mature themes and existential questions that make the film so different. The question is, what final score do our hosts have for this latest segment of “G-rated”?
Here’s the breakdown for Episode 4:
- Intro (Start)
- Being a fair-weather Suns fan (3:55)
- Soul and its mature themes (14:55)
- 22’s character arc (28:45)
- Criticisms of Soul (31:50)
- Final “G-rating” for the movie (39:00)
